Katie Humphreys is one of the premier dance mistresses in the Midwest. She has provided dance mistress services for balls across the Midwest and as far away as Maryland and Virginia. Her low-key and friendly style as a dance mistress, as well as her clear instructions, have been lauded by many ball participants, as putting them at ease so that they may easily learn the new dances and enjoy themselves.
Ms Humphreys has the ability to work with any band and is especially fond of working with the 73rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry Brass Band of which she is also a member. She has been a vintage dancer with her long term partner, Bill Gay and is an accomplished dance educator, vocalist and percussionist. She has been a reenactor since 2012 when she was introduced to Civil War Cavalry.
Katie is currently a member of the Michigan Cavalry Brigade and had traveled across the country for events. She is accomplished is assisting new riders and troopers and always willing to lend a hand. One of the original founders of the only mounted brass band in the United States, the 2nd Cavalry Brigade Band, Ms Humphreys is an accomplished equestrian, caring for the horses from the band as well as managing the Daisy Saloon, which is a fundraiser for the band.
